Last year I started Things I Love Thursdays and then (as with so many other things!) never really kept it going. The idea however, has not stopped rattling around in my head, but I want to change it to Thankful Thursdays instead. I want to keep this regular, not only to remind me to be always thankful, but also as part of my One Little Word challenge for this year. How can I be negative when I have so much to be thankful for?
So without further ado, here's what I'm thankful for this week:
Okay, this may look a little strange - I'm thankful for Woolies?!? Well, yes! You see, today was the Grand Opening for Woolworths in my village and it has been long awaited. There is a Coles up the road in the next village (along with Aldi), but I've always preferred shopping at Woolies. Why? Well, I find the prices are (somewhat) cheaper than Coles and the store layout/experience is much nicer. Besides, they have self-checkout and I love that! LOL
It's not the biggest of Woolies, but it carries most of what I usually buy so I can't complain. Besides, it's all new and shiny and who doesn't like new and shiny?!? LOL
I'm also thankful for the freebies I got today, being Grand Opening day. A lovely single pink rose, a reuseable shopping bag and best of all, a pack of fresh hot cross buns! Mmmm...
So thanks (heh heh) for putting up with my waffle about Woolies, and yes, I probably do need to get a life! LOL
*hugs*

Interesting! I thought Woolworths had disappeared everywhere when we lost ours in the UK. You learn something new every day! And I'd certainly be thankful if ours made a reappearance.
I thought Wollies was called the Big W in Oz. When we visited Australia we liked Coles Anzac Biscuits....they were the best!
How great that Woolies is alive and well somewhere on this earth. I was also amazed when I discovered C&A was still going in Holland when it had disappeared from the UK.
Love the overlay (is that the word?) on top of your photo with the word Thankful.
Oh aren't you lucky - I do miss Woolies here in the UK although I understand they have relaunched "on-line" only and Stephanie Weightman from the TV channel Create & Craft has created a range of crafty stuff for them.

I like the idea of the Thankful Thursdays post and I think it's perfectly ok to be thankful for a favorite store. I'm thankful that we have a wonderful grocery store within a mile of the house that carries most anything I'd every want (and some things I've never heard of! LOL).
Woolworths still lives! How wonderful. I was so sad when the one across from my office closed -- part of the final closing of all the stores in the U.S. Long may it wave Down Under!
I like the fact Winnie, that you're still thinking of your one little word :) ... ooopppsss, seems I've let mine slip LOL>
